Aldi said it will invest more than 550 million pounds ($694.6 million) to expand the number of stores as well as its distribution network in the U.K. in 2024, creating more than 1,500 new jobs.
The discount grocer on Monday said it seeks to support growth through opening stores in new locations and upgrading its existing stores and distribution centers, which will include further job opportunities.
The company currently has more than 1,000 stores open in the U.K. and aims to have 1,500 locations in the long term.
“There are still areas of the country that don’t have an Aldi, or that need more or larger stores to meet demand. That is what our 2024 expansion plans aim to address,” Chief Executive of Aldi U.K. and Ireland Giles Hurley said.
